Être Humain

The exhibition Être Humain brings together artists who each approach the question of what it means to be human in their own distinctive way. Through painting, sculpture, and performance, the exhibition unfolds as a rich and layered reflection on identity, vulnerability, and the many ways people meet and relate to one another.

Works by Felix Franssens, Albert Pepermans, David Horgan, Christina Zimpel, and Terry Ekasala are presented alongside recent sculptures by Vienna based American artist Kottie Paloma, offering a range of perspectives on the human body and lived experience.

During Antwerp Art Weekend, Annea Lyvv Dreisz will present a live performance every day at 3 pm. Serva Patatas Coctas is intense, unexpected, and hence unmistakably her own.

A special highlight is the collaboration between Albert Pepermans (79) and Felix Franssens (11). Starting from the same sheet of paper and a shared theme, they reinterpret each other’s work, resulting in a compelling diptych shaped through a genuine dialogue between two generations, confirming their mutual admiration.

From the permanent collection of M HKA we present a work by Marlene Dumas, Semite, a 2004 silkscreen that closely echoes the theme of the exhibition.

Être Humain invites visitors to reflect on what defines us as human, through image, movement, and encounter.
