Bert Drieghe
Two things seem remarkable about the work of Bert Drieghe. First of all, there is his specific way of abstracting. In his figurative work, he successfully transforms everyday objects and sceneries into highly simplified representations. This simplicity, sometimes even leaning towards a hint of childishness, instantly catches the eye of the viewer. Secondly, Drieghe seeks to indicate the aesthetic value of these everyday matters, exactly by making the latter the main subject in his work.
